Status Update of Reopening at CCC

Hello everyone,
We received an update as to the status of CSM recommencing classes at CCC today 06.10.20.
The principal of CCC, while supportive of CSM and wishing to have us back as soon as possible, regrettably has notified us that it is not possible to open the college to CSM
or any extra-curricular activities at this time until Level Three Restrictions are lifted.
This situation will be reviewed over the coming weeks when hopefully Level Three Restrictions have been lifted.
In the meantime, for all students currently participating in online classes, we hope they are going and will continue to go well for you.
If you have been deferring starting your music classes until CCC reopens and you think you may consider studying at another centre, please do email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or message us here with your availability and we can certainly check this out for you.
Otherwise, we will be in contact with you as soon as we have some positive news, which hopefully will not be too long.
Keep safe and well during COVID Three restrictions and hopefully things will improve very soon.
Kind regards,
CSM & MMA Admin Team

We have been informed by the RIAM that deferred theory exams will NOT NOW BE HELD on Saturday 19th September as originally scheduled by the RIAM last July.
All students registered for theory exams will be notified by the RIAM over the next few days.

This has to do with centres not being available for large groups of students nationwide.

Please follow the link here:

Exam Process

The Online Theory Exam process will be detailed by the RIAM in the coming weeks, including the process for under 16’s (digital age qualification).

What is currently know is that:

  • Parent/guardian supervision will be required.
  • Special needs students will sit their Exam as normal in the RIAM, or for those with access issues a reader from home is permitted.
  • The Online Theory Exams will apply honour code in the same way 3rd level Exams have operated in the past, and more extensively this year due to CoVid19.
  • Teachers and students should prepare for the same content as normal.

We hope all our students and parents are keeping safe and well and enjoying the remains of the summer months during these especially challenging times.

We re-open on Saturday 5th September for all classes at our Ongar and St Brigid's Centre and we look forward to seeing you there.

Please note for all CSM students who attend Castleknock Community College centre, there is a delay on the commencement of physical classes due to COVID-19 restrictions.

However, we do hope to resume physical classes there at the end of September / early October. In the meantime, your child's teacher will be in contact with you to offer you either:

A) online classes

B) classes at another centre

C) to take the option to shorten your child's semester and start semester 1 when we re-open at CCC.

We will be emailing all our parents next week with full details of our COVID-19 Response Strategy Plan and our Return to School Protocols and Policies for students, parents and staff.

We very much look forward to meeting you all again and looking forward to another wonderful year of music-making within a comfortable and safe environment.
