Trad Group Sessions


Tutor: Antonello Dorazio B.Mus (Perf) MA (Sax Perf)

Day: Thursday

Time: 6.30-7.00pm

Venue: St. Brigid’s National School, Castleknock

Sessions held bi-weekly

Want to be in a trad group and make music. Then this is your opportunity. We are looking for the following instrumentalists: flute, clarinet, whistle, guitar, keyboard and bodhrán/percussion.

Class Description

The focus of the class is to gain experience of performing in a trad group. You will learn tradition tunes, develop your aural skills and have lots of craic making music together. You will make new friends while developing your sense of rhythm, pulse, articulation and sense of flow. In other words, being on the way to becoming an excellent trad musician.

The final class of each semester will be an Open Rehearsal Session at a public venue. (Venue TBC)Please note, you need to have been playing your instrument for minimum 3 years and to be of Grade 1 + standard.

Enrolment is open to classically trained players.

Reading notation is an advantage. Children, teenagers & adults welcome to enrol!

Fee:  €70.00 per semester of 7 Bi-weekly sessions (internal students of CSM)

         €85.00 per semester of 7 Bi-weekly sessions (external students of CSM)

Adult Group Classes at CSM


About Adult Group Classes at CSM

It’s never too late to learn to play an instrument and expand your horizons. Adult Group Classes at CSM are designed as an introduction to the fundamentals of playing an instrument in a friendly, relaxed, non-competitive and fun environment.

Adults learn quicker than children: they have better concentration, are physically stronger and can practice for longer. Learning an instrument at any age is therapeutic and you will be surprised at how much you will have learnt by the end of a semester.

Adult group lessons are cost effective, affordable and social providing a great way to meet new friends and have fun learning together as a group.

All CSM Adult Tutors are highly skilled, qualified, kind, patient, communicative and caring.

What Happens After the Semester 1

Each participant is welcome to continue with the same group / same day / same time. Alternatively, you might like to continue with individual tuition or partner with a member from the class to learn together. It’s up to you!

Guitar for Adults (Beginners Class & Improvers Classes)

Day: Friday

Venue: St. Brigid's 

Tutor: Ronan Tierney

Time: 6.10 - 7.00pm

50 minutes

Fee: €180.00 (per semester of 15 weeks)

Course Description – (Max 4 students per class)

Learn to play basic chords, acoustic, finger styles, strumming techniques, music notation and some popular songs in a friendly group environment. No musical experience necessary.

Adult student enrolled will require a full size acoustic guitar and a tutor book.


Ukulele for Adults (Beginners & Improvers Classes)

Day: Thursday

Venue: Ongar Tuition Centre 

Tutor: Stevie Darragh

Time:  6.40 - 7.20pm 

40 minutes

Fee: €170.00 (per semester of 15 weeks)

Course Description – (Max 4 students per class)

Learn the basics of strumming technique, play simple chords to accompany popular songs, reading chords and music notation and the basics of tuning. It’s not difficult to learn the basics of this happiest of instruments. No experience necessary.

Adult student enrolled will require a full size ukulele and a tutor book.



Violin for Adults (Beginners & Improvers Classes)

50 minutes

Day: Wednesday

Venue: Castleknock Community College

Time: 7.40 - 8.30pm


Fee: €180.00 (per semester of 15 weeks)

If you ever wanted to learn to play this beautiful instrument, this is the class for you.

Guaranteed to be a relaxed fun class in a supportive learning environment.

Course Description – (Max 4 students per class)

Learn posture, holding the violin and bow, string names, fingerings, basic techniques of pizzicato and playing fun music. No previous music experience necessary. This class is for the absolute beginner.

Adult student enrolled will require a full size violin and tutor book.

Overhead, The Albatross - Our very own Stevie Darragh and his band are just back after being invited to perform at a prestigious music festival in Canada.
They write all their own songs and their energy on stage is electrifying.
